Urban
Rescuers
A Revealing Documentary about the Feral Cat Dilemma
Sun., April 29, 2:30
p.m., KPTS TV, Channel 8
"Urban Rescuers" profiles a group of
fiercely dedicated animal welfare crusaders in
Los
Angeles who, using Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), work tirelessly to feed,
trap, sterilize, and care for feral (undomesticated) cat colonies living
outdoors. Examining the ethical dilemma presented by feral cats, this
award-winning documentary will interview leading animal advocates both in
favor of, and opposed to, TNR.
At the close of the show, interested viewers will be invited to contact
Friends of Felines, Ray Huff's
respected feral cat rescue group in
Sedgwick, KS. The hope is that the TV exposure will generate enough
public interest to become the first step in putting together a Central
Kansas feral cat alliance. For information about how you can help improve
the lives of feral cats, call Friends of Felines,

The
Caring Hands Humane Society endorses
Trap, Neuter, Return as the only proven method to control and manage feral
cat populations. This segment of free roaming animals do not belong in
shelters as they are not suitable for placement into homes, however just
because they are not good candidates for adoption does not mean they should
be trapped and taken to shelters where our only option is to kill them. They
too have a right to live!
